Battlefield Acupuncture (BFA) is an auriculotherapy protocol (ear acupuncture) that is one of the strongest protocols for pain reduction. In some cases, BFA can reduce pain faster than most narcotics. Results can be felt by the patient in minutes. BFA uses a specific type of auricular needle known as an ASP® needle.
BFA was invented by Dr. Richard Niemtzow in 2001. Dr. Niemtzow was one of the first full-time acupuncturists in the US Armed Forces. The instructor, John Howard, L.Ac., Dipl. Ac. completed a 5-year fellowship (2005-2010) with Dr. Niemtzow. During this time, he began co-teaching the BFA protocol with Dr. Niemtzow. Since 2009, John has been teaching Battlefield Acupuncture throughout the United States and Europe to acupuncturists, medical doctors, and the US Military, NATO, VA and Indian Health Services physicians/employees.
